Recently, my partner and I were drawn to the beautiful artwork displayed in one of the shop windows of the Jetty Arcade at Redcliffe.
The shop was fascinating and we could not resist going in to find out what exactly this new business was. When we walked in, we met the very personable, bubbly and fun-love Visual Artist, Karryn Lesley.
We found out that Karryn has been a practising artist all her life.
As well as being a practising artist, Karryn does commissioned work and prefers to teach one to one as she believes in the individual experience of creative expression and giving her full attention to her students.
Her main focus is concentrated on building her art business and exhibiting her work in her own studio space.
Karryn Lesley with her artwork
It is such a treat to walk into her studio and see the creative process in action.
Karryn told me that many of her newest artworks have been sold before they have been completed. People visiting her studio have loved watching Karryn work on her paintings and wanted to buy them straight away.
The fact that people are buying her artwork before it has even come off the easel speaks volumes about the quality and integrity of her creative expression.
When you listen to her speak about her artwork and what inspires her, you cannot help but be drawn into her creative world. She loves flowers and features them in her artwork on a weekly basis.
Karryn has a ritual of buying herself a fresh bunch flowers at the Redcliffe Jetty markets every Sunday morning. She takes them straight into her studio and begins to incorporate them into her latest painting. It is obvious that Karryn has a deep respect for the beauty of nature.
Karryn Lesley's Kitchen Complete Range
Karryn radiates a zest for life that is contagious when you are in her presence. It is clear that she thoroughly enjoys her artistic expression.
At present, Karryn's preferred mediums are colour pencil, acrylic paints, inks and washes on acid free paper.
Her current artwork emanates feminine beauty through the facial features as you can see from the photos. The eyes are truly beautiful.
She ensures that every piece of her artwork that is sold is professionally framed before people collect it.
Karryn has a passion to inspire people to feel that they can afford to purchase original artwork. She is very reasonably priced for the amount of work that goes into each piece, which is easily more than 20 hours.
Karryn was working on this piece the day I met her. It is now sold.
