Following on from Waikerie and Wirrabara, Karoonda has now also joined the South Australia silo art trail. The silo art in Karoonda is unique in that it incorporates the concept of day and night. During the day, you can admire the colourfully painted artwork. And, at night, you can enjoy a beautiful projection lighting up the silos. This combination of artwork by Heesco Khosnaran and illuminations by Illuminart makes the Karoonda silo art the first of its kind in Australia.



The silo art, which was just completed in July 2019, pays tribute to the town's farming heritage. It features Merino sheep, a kelpie working dog, bush setting and historic steam train. In creating the artwork, Heesco first sketched images collected from across the region. Then with this digital mock-up he started working on the biggest silo he had ever painted.
