Allergy friendly food for the soul
Published September 10th 2012
Everyone has their "local". That place, not far from home, where you know you can always go to for a decent feed, good service and a friendly atmosphere. Karim's Indian Restaurant in Moonee Ponds is mine.

Karim's" as we affectionately refer to it, is located on Hall Street in Moonee Ponds. That's the street that runs parallel to the infamous Puckle street. It's usually pretty quiet in there, but don't let that deter you. They recently refurbished the indoor décor and it looks very suave, as well as being extremely comfortable.

The food is FANTASTIC. Their menu is very extensive, although I almost always get the Chickpea Masala or the Vegtable Jalfrezi. I'm also told the Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka Masala are great. Their meat is all Halal and they do takeway for when we're feeling really lazy. As an added bonus, they don't charge for BYO either.

I would also like to make special mention of their gorgeous staff. The weekend waiter is probably only 16 years old, but he knows the menu thoroughly and always has the a joke with you. The cook takes great pride in his food and if anything is ever slower than expected they're very apologetic.

Karim's in definitely the best local we could ask for. Why don't you make it yours?
