This year's Karijini Experience, set in Western Australia's rugged Pilbara, will feature a host of unique events including everything from free family activities to ticketed degustations and WASO string quartet concerts in Kalamina Gorge.

Set in the spectacular surrounds of the remote and rugged Karijini National Park in Western Australia's Pilbara region. the Karijini Experience will be held from April 6 to 10. It follows on from Easter and coincides with school holidays.

Organiser Sonia Powell says because of the pandemic, this year's celebration will focus intently on WA talent. She says it will be a fabulous opportunity for people who live in this state to tick the Karijini Experience off their bucket list.

It will feature everything from markets and wildlife to music of all kinds, art and food, events for children and families, free and ticketed events, combined with the spectacular gorges and red earth. The combination of warm days and cool nights, the splendour of the park and range of unique activities make it a perfect time to visit.

As well as the performances by a West Australian Symphony Orchestra string quartet, the experience will culminate with the Yurlu Lounge on the Saturday night featuring some of WA's top musical talent. The Karijini Experience also offers a wonderful opportunity for people to connect with Karijini's native title holders, the Banjima and other Aboriginal language groups, who perform in concerts, toolmaking, cultural exchanges and workshops.

In the heart of the Pilbara, around 1400km from Perth and 80km north-east of Tom Price, the Karijini Experience gives visitors an opportunity to stay and camp in the park or to glamp it up at the Karijini Eco Retreat to experience both the unspoiled nature of the region and to share in a series of unique events.

Visitors wishing to stay in the Dales Gorge campground in the park need to book with the Department of Parks and Wildlife. Both campsites fill up quickly. As performers and events are locked in and tickets become available, they will be featured on the website www.karijiniexperience.com
