The Kardinya Tavern or 'The Kardy' as it is known locally has been in business for over twenty years. Located in Kardinya close to the Kardinya Park Shopping Centre and public transport there is also loads of free parking. The Kardinya Tavern happily combines a huge sports bar and a bistro family restaurant that is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
The Kardinya Tavern Bistro is a great place to meet family or friends for a meal and if you haven't been there for a while perhaps you should give it a try.
With the lovely alfresco dining areas and Beer Gardens, as well as their large bistro restaurant and Sports Bar, there are so many ways to enjoy an evening there. But be sure to book, as tables fill up fast.
There are a number of menus to choose from at the Kardinya Tavern, the bar menu or the finger food menu that offers snacks and light meals. The Bistro menu is quite extensive and has a large variety of entrees and main meal plus loads of side dishes, salads and desserts and a children's menu.
We used to dine at the Kardinya Tavern Bistro quite a lot at one stage, for family birthdays or just a nice meal out but we haven't been there for a while. On this occasion we ended up there for an impromptu dinner and we had a great time.
We started off sharing some tasty garlic bread, which was $6.00, as we ordered our entrees, the Prawn and Scallop Skewers with Saffron Sauce ($17.00), the Mediterranean Stuffed Mushroom ($14.00) and the famous Sizzling Garlic Prawns ($19.00), all of which arrived quickly.
For our main meal we decided on Chicken Parmigiana with shoestring fries ($25.00) which had just the right amount of sauce and cheese, so it wasn't soggy, and was one of the best I've tasted in ages. The Beer Battered Fish and Chips ($26.00) came with lovely fat chips and a very tasty Tartare sauce and the Black Angus Prime Rib-eye with fat chips ($38.00) which was covered in a thick, flavoursome mushroom sauce.
The salad bar is inclusive with every main meal so you can have as much fresh salad as you like and there is plenty of variety.
For desert we finally decided on the cheesecake ($6.50), the Sticky Date Pudding ($7.00) and the Lemon Meringue ($7.50), all of them were absolutely divine.
All in all we had a fantastic night, the food servings were generous and delicious and the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was lively and relaxed.
If you are planning to go to The Kardinya Tavern, for just a drink, the prices are fairly reasonable and the bar is a lively place - with big screen TVs, they air most of the sport programs and games, in a friendly environment.
If it's one of those occasions when you want to buy beer, spirits or when you want a good bottle of wine to enjoy at home, remember to pop into their bottle shop. You can browse through a wide selection, or if you know what you want, simply use their drive through service. This is a popular service for most patrons, as it is nearby, convenient and the staff are helpful.
When you are planning your next function, think of The Kardinya Tavern - they have a private function room available that can easily accommodate 40 – 50 people seated or 60 – 80 people standing for a less formal occasion.
So no matter what you are looking for, you are sure to find it at The Kardinya Tavern Bistro. The inviting, friendly and relaxed atmosphere makes this restaurant a definite winner.
