Event:
A free festival with free beer and false falsettos
Consider yourself a karaoke king or queen? You can now prove your karaoke prowess by competing in the Melbourne Karaoke Festival and potentially win $1000. Won't be pulled up on stage to sing for any reason whatsoever? Sit back, sip away and enjoy the classics being either slaughtered or perfected.

Melbourne CBD retail hub, 206 Bourke Street is hosting the inaugural, free Melbourne Karaoke Festival on 28 April 2017.

While the main attraction will be karaoke stars and amateurs going head to head, the festival will also feature live music from some of Melbourne's best bands and entertainers, giveaways and spots prizes, and free hair, face and beard glitter applications by Glitter Gypsy to help bring out the disco diva in everyone.

In terms of food and drink, Sample Beer will be providing the dutch courage, with free beer being given to the first 400 attendees, and dumplings and St Gerry's donuts will be providing the fuel.

Hosted by comedian Diana Nguyen, the Melbourne Karaoke Festival kicks off at five and the fat lady sings at 9.30pm, when the winners will be announced and the encore performances performed.

You can register to sing your heart out to your favourite ballad in front of a panel of karaoke professionals here. There are three categories to choose from, with each category winner being awarded a $1,000 cash prize:
1. Solo for those diva types that can't share the stage
2. Dynamic Duets for those not brave enough to do it alone
3. Battle of the Bands groups of 3 or more

Whether you're taking to the stage or sitting back and judging from the safety of your seat, this free festival is sure to be a night full of fun and falsettos.
