A relaxing way to unwind before the weekend
Basking in the glory of its nomination for the Brand South Australia Regional Awards, the Barossa's most popular and newest markets are back for a third summer of food, fashion, fun and fair. These hugely successful twilight markets attract a great crowd on the third Friday of each month from November through to March.

The change in 2013 from a Sunday market to a Friday twilight market was an inspirational move and has created much vibrancy and excitement within the township of Kapunda on that third Friday of the month. With Kapunda being less than half an hour away from Gawler and the other major towns in the Barossa Valley, the markets provide an ideal opportunity to do something different leading up to a weekend.

Relaxing Music

The combination of the twilight timeslot, the change in location, live music, a kid's zone, hot food, a large array of interesting stalls and a place for people to meet, sit down and enjoy a relaxing evening out in Kapunda ensures a great atmosphere. And for tourists looking to visit, the coupling of the markets with one of the driving or walking tours through the town ensures a great time is had by all in this great former mining town. Alternatively for those wishing to stay longer, or city folk looking for a weekend getaway, there is plenty of accommodation options in Kapunda or in the nearby Barossa towns.

Indoor Stalls

With a primary focus of trying to remain local, the market supports the stalls selling fresh produce and homemade arts and crafts. Support is also given to local musicians, who are on site to entertain the crowd for several hours during the markets. New stallholders are also welcome and organisers will provide them with a prime spot and support to sell their wares.

PLEASE NOTE : Due to the excessive heat forecast for Friday 18th December, it was considered in the best interests of all to cancel the markets for this day. More details are available from the Kapunda Twilight Markets facebook page.

Kapunda has a nice vibe...but often overlooked.Visitors need to stop for a bite and take the sign posted tourist drive and they will be pleasantly surprised. The Tourist Information Centre is a good place to visit. For anyone combining a few days in the Barossa Towns and the Clare Region, then suggest they include Kapunda...aprox half way between both.Steve you have done it again...bringing South Aust. to the people...there must be place for you on the S.A.Tourism Commision..perhaps you and a couple of others really do have S.Aust deep in your heart.
