Sydney bar scene is full of hidden gems. No matter how long Sydneysiders have resided here, you will never know of every bar. But if you know where to look, there are many funky chic bars around.

If you are keen to try a themed bar with interesting wine list, scrumptious appetizers and a great party atmosphere away from the dreary and pressure outside, Kanzi Club is just the place to be.

Kanzi Club is a Korean-themed restaurant with a pub atmosphere and club-like ambiance featuring music and large LCD screens. It is located right in the middle of Sydney CBD next to the Hungry Jack.

There's no signage on the door at the time of writing and we stumbled upon it by chance. To find this bar you need to go to level 1 on 636 George Street and brave through the masses of international students at the entrance.

The décor is funky, yet intimate like a big open karaoke room. The entire wall is fitted with large motion screens showing the latest K-pop and mainstream music entertainments.

While we were still dazed by this futuristic funky club/bar/restaurant, a staff quickly placed a complementary bar snack in front of us.

It was not your typical beer nuts or salty pretzels, rather it was an ingenious-looking long fried noodles dusted with sugar crystals. It was a moreish appetizer to nibble on while we were going through the menu.

The menu is an interesting mix of Korean cuisine with unique alcohol beverages. We were delighted with Kanzi's vast selection of Korean cocktails, imported beers and wines. The singular price for each drink is quite expensive but they are really spectacular.

We started off the night with Kanzi's signature vodka cruiser cocktail in the wild raspberry flavour ($13) and the presentation was definitely an eye-turner. A bottle of vodka was tipped up-side-down into a large cocktail glass. This cocktail was something worth sharing.

We were very pleased with our initial fancy cocktail drink and our confidence to this cozy Korean club grew. We were feeling adventurous so we ordered the kiwi flavoured Soju shots.

Soju is the best known liquor from Korea and it is the latest Korea's fabled-suddenly-turned-fashionable drink. It is one of the oldest alcoholic beverages in Korea and it is commonly known as a "farmer's drink". On its own, Soju tastes like a strong distilled sake with high potency so, Kanzi has combined sweet syrups with the old liquor to satisfy the youthful and modern palates.

The Kiwi Soju was an innovative fusion and we were exceedingly surprised at this flavoured beverage. It tasted smooth, sweet and clean. It was very easy to drink and you can taste the sweetness of the kiwi fruit syrup in the Soju. It was almost like drinking a kiwifruit juice and you could easily have a few shot glasses without any trouble.

We got a bit hungry so we also ordered a Korean Seafood Pancake ($19) to share. The large pancake arrived piping hot and it was generously filled with assorted seafood.

It was not the best Korean seafood pancake in Sydney, but it tasted pretty good with the vodka cocktail and soju shots.

Kanzi Club is very well hidden and therefore not as well known, which makes it a little sanctuary away from the hustle bustle outside.

When you come to a Korean-themed bar, you should give the Korean Soju and Makgeolli a try. Kanzi's specialty soju shot, and Korean Makgeolli drinks are also very impressive.

This is a perfect venue to unwind and enjoy a few drinks with friends in the city.
