The restaurant is spacious and light. There is a nice amount of space between tables. I don't like it when I go out and the back of my chair is pressing against the back of the persons chair behind me and the tables are so close together, I can hear other people's conversations.
The service was quick and the waitress was friendly and helpful when we asked about items on the menu. The waitress explained, Kangkong cuisine is South East Asian which includes Malay, Thai and Vietnamese.
A bottle of table water was brought over without us having to ask. Our drink order was taken first and the waitress didn't look surprised at all when a particularly thirsty member of our group ordered two beers to arrive together. Which is more than I can say for the rest of us, we teased him a little . My drink of choice is a lemon lime and bitters. Sometimes this can be too sweet or not sweet enough. My drink was just right and very refreshing.
Three of us ordered the Butter Chicken with steamed rice, which was very nice. The chicken had a subtle chargrilled BBQ flavour and the sauce was rich and tasty with fresh coriander on the side. I love fresh coriander so I was very happy.
Another ordered the Australian prawn salad with chargrilled watermelon, crispy shallots and pineapple. She was very happy with her choice and remarked how even the pineapple had a beautiful chargrilled flavour.
