Kangaroo Island Marathon offers full and half marathon options to a maximum of five hundred runners each year. This year the marathon will be held on Saturday 26 August. Its course route is located at the Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island and has a maximum elevation gain of 154 metres.
The full marathon starts at the visitors centre, goes south along Cape de Couedic Road and into Snake Lagoon and turns left via Boxer Drive to Remarkable Rocks. Runners can stop for a quick 'selfie' photo with the rocks. The route then heads towards the coastal tip with a detour into Weirs Cove and passes Cape de Couedic Lighthouse. Runners loop around the Admirals Arch car park and return back to the finish line in front of the visitors centre.
The half marathon starts at Bunker Hill Lookout, goes south along Cape de Couedic Road straight towards the coastal tip, loops around the Admirals Arch car park and heads to the finish line in front of the visitors centre.
Runners will truly be inspired by the sheer beauty of the Flinders Chase National Park. You can book for the marathon online via their website.
