Kangaroo Island is one of South Australia's most popular touristic regions. This ancient piece of land separated from the mainland during the last ice age and therefore is the home to many unique species of flora and fauna. It also boasts with nature, diverse landscapes and of course the friendly hospitality from locals.



Only a few months ago the island was only reachable by Sea Link ferry servicr, however you can now fly directly from Adelaide into the heart of Kingscote. With so many things to do, places to see and experiences to be had on the island it may be difficult to source the information or head in the right direction, so you may want to make the Visitor Information Centre your first stop.

Kangaroo Island's Gateway Visitor Information Centre[/LINK] is located on Howard Drive, Penneshaw, SA 5222, a quick walking distance from the main Sea Link terminal. Open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, weekends and public holidays 10am to 4pm and closed on Christmas Day.



This Visitor Centre is a welcoming starting point to get the most out of your short or long stay on the island. Some of the services they offer include free maps, brochures and magazines of the region, accommodation advice, assistance with bookings, routes to touristic attractions and local event information. Their staff are all local volunteers and employees who have grown on the island, know it inside out and are eager to share their knowledge with visitors.



Much more than a Visitor Centre , this place also showcases some of the Island's best local produce and talent with a hand picked selection of arts, crafts, olive products, Ligurian honey and delicious dried fruits and preserves to take home a little piece of this world class destination.
