Kalevu is the pearl in the oyster.



Situated in Sylvania, this restaurant is an understated piece of brilliance. Sure, that might sound like an exaggeration but until you try it you won't know.

With dishes like Szechuan Dusted Lobster Tail and Veal Involtine you can be excused in thinking that this place is only for the stuck up princess' that roll their R's and air kiss. Kalevu is actually for everyone and you can even book online.

Kalevu provides each diner with an appetizer of cured Wagyu beef on wakame salad with horse radish oil and chive cream which is as light and refreshing as it sounds. The portion sizes are perfect and the wine menu is extensive, however the restaurant is also BYO so bring along your favourite drop to accompany a fantastic meal.

The menu is limited in choices but what is on offer has been mastered.

Kavela offers a special of 2 courses (entree, main, dessert) for $46. The online menu indicates $42, but the in store menu definitely states $46, however you won't mind paying the extra $4 when this food hits your lips. You have to try the Trio of Duck which serves the humble duck three ways with delicious sides and surprising flavours. The menu changes every couple of months to keep it interesting so there will always be something new to try.

The service is friendly and speedy and the atmosphere calm and relaxing. The fake tea light candles on each table flicker realistically and never go out which hopefully predicts the life of this restaurant.
