Smile and stroll amongst a brilliant field of bright, yellow blooms in the ultimate sunflower experience at the Kalbar Sunflower Festival from 2 to 4 May 2025.
The
Kalbar Sunflower Festival , which is located in Queensland's scenic rim region, is a floral spectacular held in Autumn which attracts 12000 to 17 000 visitors each year to see the acres of fields of sunflowers in bloom.
This now annual Festival has grown to become one of South East Queensland's favourite tourism opportunities to visit a working sunflower farm, see fields of some 1.5 million sunflowers and help support vital cancer medical services.
The Festival started as a strategic decision for Jenny and Russell Jenner to reconsider their crop choices following the severity of the drought and move toward planting sunflowers. But it soon became even more than that.
The Healing Power of the Sunflower
The family has experienced first-hand the tragedy of cancer with the Festival founder Russell Jenner sadly passing away from cancer in 2023. Now, the Festival has taken on even greater meaning and is dedicated to fundraising initiatives focused on cancer care and palliative care to help others facing the disease.
Kalbar's sunflower-inspired campaigns aim to provide support, resources, and comfort to those affected by cancer and funds raised have already funded cancer care nurses and Cuddle Beds.
And this year promises to be bigger and better than ever with a bouquet of beauties filled with things to see and do over three days all with cancer care and treatment at the centre. Dance amongst the field of flowers and feel their optimism while taking part in:
Posing at over 50 photo props;
Exploring the Children's Hub
Tipping your teacup at the Mater Devonshire Tea Marquee
Picking your own flowers
Doing Yoga in the sunflowers
Alivening your senses in the Sensory Garden
Visiting the Sunflower Memorial
Seeing the Community Mural Project
Volunteering opportunities are available for those keen to lend a hand and spread the happiness.
Festival tickets go on sale at the end of March so check the website for more details.
