Creative hay bales will soon dot the countryside as the Scenic Rim's hay artists prepare for the annual Kalbar Country Day and Hay Festival. "Dad-hay Long Legs" or "Plat-hay-pus" may even make an appearance again this year.
Held on Saturday 21st October 2017, this is one fun family event to add to your calendar. Kicking off at 7am with a free bush poetry breakfast, Kalbar's main street transforms into a buzzing hive of activity with markets, games, fashion parades, entertainment and scrumptious country fare.
Unique market stalls and the vintage car and tractor displays are set against green rolling hills. Whether you are searching for plants, salt lamps, honey, windmills, fashion, arts and crafts or home made goodies, you will be sure to find it here. The fudge and sweets sell quickly, so an early visit to the food stalls is recommended.
A day at Kalbar's Country Day would not be complete without carrot tossing, pumpkin rolling and horse shoe quoits. The fun isn't just for the adults; children will be kept amused with rides, face painting and the hay scramble.
Enjoy Kalbar's country hospitality by tucking into a delicious Devonshire tea or grabbing a bite to eat at one of the food trucks before relaxing on one of the many hay bales lining the street. Local bands will be performing throughout the day. If you're feeling lucky, don't forget to try your luck at one of the raffles.
Kalbar's Country Day is the perfect opportunity to get into the country spirit this October.
