Old-fashioned grocer in modern day Perth
Kakula Bros is an inner-city grocery store established in 1929. Specialising in local and rare imported goods with a specific focus on spices, dried fruits, nuts and coffee beans.

The stores signature 'sack bags' containing spices

The original storefront still operates on Williams Street in Northbridge and they have since expanded into Fremantle with a store dubbed Kakulas Sisters.

With their wide range of commodities, it is always fun to poke around this store. Personally, I love smelling all the different spices and learning where each different product originates from. It is certainly this combination of stock and history that makes grocery shopping here actually something enjoyable.

The wooden floorboards and old-fashion grocer vibe are a nice change from the commercialised feel of modern-day supermarkets.

Even if you're not shopping, Kakula Bros is always a nice excursion and I'm sure you will also enjoy exploring the store.
