Kaiser Stub'n (Cnr of Mona Vale Road and McCarrs Creek Road, Terrey Hills), has resided in this leafy location for over 20 years. Family run, they are famous for their German and Austrian dishes and are the "go-to" place for traditional fare.

We happened upon this place by accident and thought it looked cute and kitsch. Inside looks as you would expect, check tablecloths, imposing animal heads, and an assortment of oddities hanging from the ceiling. There are two main dining areas, one is an Atrium style room perfect for functions, while the other has a more cosy feel with lots of wood features.

I found the owner and Chef, Robert, very friendly and hands-on. Constantly on the floor checking in with customers, ensuring they were good for drinks and happy with their meal. You don't find that in too many places.

Some of the dishes we have tried include the Roasted Pork Knuckle with Sauerkraut and Bread Dumpling, Crumbed Mushrooms, a huge Vienna Schnitzel, Beef Goulash served with Bread Dumpling or Spätzle, Grilled Beef Fillet on Béarnaise Sauce, and Pork Tenderloins.

The servings are really generous so, bring your appetite with you. Prices are very reasonable and you can view the entire menu here.

The desserts are equally as generous and choices include the decadent sounding Crème Brulee with Mascarpone Mousse and Tia Maria Sauce, Pancakes filled with freshly stewed Apricots, Hungarian Chocolate Cake and Apple Strudel.

Whatever you do, don't leave without enjoying one of the many schnapps they have on the menu. There are so many to choose from and, if unsure, why not ask Robert for a recommendation. The ones we tried were delicious.

The house specialties are roasted daily and extremely popular, ie, they can sell out. Reserve your Pork Knuckle or Roasted Duck with your booking here (bookings are essential).

Dinner: Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm to 11pm
Lunch: Sunday Only from 12pm to 2:30pm
Closed on Monday
