When you meet Anthony from
Kairos Candles at
Caribbean Gardens & Market (1280 Ferntree Gully Rd, Scoresby), you'll find him a pleasant man who does not make you feel like you're being pushed into a sale. He's happy to talk about his products without the hard-sell. He knows once you've bought one of his candles, you're going to be back. He lets the product speak for itself. He just concentrates on constantly improving on it. His jars and labels have already changed since I last bought one.
The look is so professional, I was surprised to learn that everything was made by hand and he personally makes the candles and other products, prepares the jars and puts the labels on. Amazing.
When I first happened upon his stall not too long ago, believe it or not, I'd never bought a scented candle. I have hundreds of candles from Ikea that I enjoy on candle nights at home when I have nothing but lots of candles lit around the house just to enjoy the simple atmosphere of its ambiance. Now I have a problem. After lighting one of Anthony's Vanilla & Sandalwood candles, I'm not sure I can go back to candles without a fragrance. It's not even just about the candle having a fragrance. It's specifically about being spoilt by the quality of
Kairos Candles . The fragrance of my candle permeated the whole house. Long after it was snuffed out and upon waking from a good night's sleep, the house was still imbued with the heavenly fragrance of vanilla and sandalwood that wafted past every breath I took.
The Kairos Candles story started after Anthony left a job he had been at for eight and a half years. As a spiritual person he wanted more meaning in his life and more time for what he loved. When he walked out the door, he didn't have a clue what he wanted to do next. He had a young family growing he wanted to see more of than his busy working hours allowed. He wanted to be present for them and to get back to the basics in life. Soap was one of those basics, something natural he wanted to start making for his family. It was part of the plan to be less reliant on mainstream frameworks.
From soap it was a natural to start hand making his own candles. He came up with a product he was happy with and decided to test the market. At his very first stall at a market, he completely sold out. This was affirmation he was on the right path and since then he's been making candles, soy melts and reed diffusers. You'll find many positive feedback and reviews on his
Facebook page . I for one am definitely a fan of these good quality, fragrant strong, Kairos Candles. They have also found their way to Queensland where independent businesses buy wholesale from
Kairos Candles and sell them exclusively. Anthony is always looking for business but it's more important to him to have the right type of people that share his vision to work with.
You'll find Anthony at his stall at the
Caribbean Market Gardens on
Wednesdays and Sundays, and Friday is what he calls his casual days. He may or may not be there on the Fridays. You can also buy his products online from his
website and
Facebook Page .
