Breakfast in the City
You would think that finding a place in the city that sells pancakes for breakfast wouldn't be difficult. After all there are about a thousand cafes and restaurants in Sydney. Still we had to walk past quite a few before we came upon Kafe Kaz on the corner of Pitt and Liverpool Streets, not far from World Tower.

The massive vegetarian breakfast

With a decently sized outdoor area as well as inside seating, Kafe Kaz is a pleasant café, with pleasant staff serving pleasant food. Be warned though that people are allowed to smoke in the outdoor area, which can be a pain. It has an enormous menu and obviously aims to please. It certainly pleased my daughters with their choice of pancakes ($9.90), either three served plain with cream and maple syrup, or two with a choice of bananas or strawberries.

Two very happy little girls

The serving sizes were very generous, with a whole orchard of fruit included. The strawberries were made into a syrup as well as fresh slices, and as such made the dish quite sweet and rich. Neither of my daughters could finish their breakfasts. Luckily asking for doggy bags wasn't an issue.

I ordered the vegetarian breakfast which came with two slices of unbuttered toast (butter on the side), and generous helpings of scrambled eggs, fried mushrooms, grilled haloumi cheese, a wedge of avocado and half a grilled tomato. It was simple, filling and tasty. The coffee was also great, and it was late afternoon before I felt hungry again.

This is definitely a breakfast lover's destination. As well as $10 breakfast specials, they serve breakfast all-day.

There menu is extensive, and you will find all your standard lunchtime favourites including quiche, pastas, wraps, pizzas and burgers. There is also an enormous glass case heaving with fresh fruits, salads and sandwich ingredients. There's no excuse that you can't find something healthy to please you. Across the board it seems very good value and the service was friendly as well, and eager to help.

You won't go out of your way to eat at Kafe Kaz, but if you come across it, you'll be glad you did.
