John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new - FREE event
Saturday 5 October to Saturday 23 November

John Mawurndjul AM is an accomplished artist who is celebrated for his mastery of rarrk - fine-painted cross-hatching - a tradition that has been shared by generations of Kuninjku artists. The John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new is an exhibition of bark paintings and sculptures, telling the Kuninjku culture stories and the important locations surrounding this creative artist's home in western Arnhem Land. John Mawurndjul has managed the development of this exhibition which describes (in both Kuninjku and English) his locations of special cultural significance, known as kunred; as well as the sacred places and spirits - or Djang - that recur regularly in his art-making.

The John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new exhibition has been organised and toured by the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and supported by Red Energy. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government's Visions of Australia program.

The John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new FREE exhibition runs from 5 October through to 23 November and pre-registration is not required.

The Caboolture Regional Art Gallery is open every day from Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 4.00pm and is closed on Sundays. There is plenty of parking underneath and around the building, including spaces for people with mobility constraints. The entrance for parking is off Hasking Street.
