Both of these free events run concurrently at the
Caboolture Regional Art Gallery. The
John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new exhibition runs from the beginning of October through to the 23 November, whilst the Kabi Kabi Kids Party's two dates fall within this same period. Both events are interlinked with cultural significance and provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about Australia's Indigenous people.

Monday 4 November and Thursday 14 November**
Come along to the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery to celebrate the International Year of Indigenous Languages with an easy and fun children's party, featuring the Kabi Kabi language.
The Kabi Kabi Kids Party will utilise the stunning J
ohn Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new exhibition as its spectacular backdrop. Children will have games to play; can create their own music; dance and then have the opportunity to keep the party going with snacks in the gallery foyer.
The
Kabi Kabi Kids Party is guaranteed fun for big and little kids, whilst presenting a fabulous opportunity to learn more about Indigenous languages, including the local Kabi Kabi language and the Kuninjku language spoken by artist John Mawurndjul.
Light food and drinks will be provided at the
Kabi Kabi Kids Party.
There are only two dates available for the Kabi Kabi Kids Party:
Monday 4 November 10.30am to 12.30pm. and
Thursday 14 November 5.00pm to 7.00pm
Even though the Kabi Kabi Kids Party is a FREE event, for catering purposes RSVP's are essential.

John Mawurndjul AM is an accomplished artist who is celebrated for his mastery of
rarrk - fine-painted cross-hatching - a tradition that has been shared by generations of Kuninjku artists. The
John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new is an exhibition of bark paintings and sculptures, telling the Kuninjku culture stories and the important locations surrounding this creative artist's home in western Arnhem Land. John Mawurndjul has managed the development of this exhibition which describes (in both Kuninjku and English) his locations of special cultural significance, known as
kunred; as well as the sacred places and spirits - or
Djang - that recur regularly in his art-making.
The
John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new exhibition has been organised and toured by the
Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and supported by Red Energy. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government's Visions of Australia program.
The
John Mawurndjul : I am the old and the new FREE exhibition runs from 5 October through to 23 November and pre-registration is not required.
The
Caboolture Regional Art Gallery is open every day from Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 4.00pm and is closed on Sundays. There is plenty of parking underneath and around the building, including spaces for people with mobility constraints. The entrance for parking is off Hasking Street.
