K-Pop Party 2016 is the ultimate boy band party. This special concert event at Carriageworks opens the 2016 Sydney Chinese New Year Festival and will be hosted by SBS PopAsia's Jamaica deal Cruz and Andy Trieu, who will interview Boyfriend and JJCC live on stage.
Boyfriend is a six-member South Korean boy group consisting of Kim DongHyun, Shim HyunSeong, Lee JeongMin, Cho YoungMin, Cho KwangMin and Noh MinWoo. They debuted on Mnet's M! Countdown in 2011 with their 1st single album Boyfriend and have been a global phenomenon since.
Lisa Havilah, Director of Carriageworks said "They have become one of the most popular K-Pop bands in the world today and now Sydney fans have a chance to see them perform here at Carriageworks.''
JJCC, a South Korean boy group, is the first K-Pop idol group to be formed by Jackie Chan. Prince Mak is the only Australian member of the group and he grew up in Western Sydney and also hosts a weekly radio that streams live on SBS.
In the late 2000s, K-Pop grew from a musical genre into a subculture among teenagers and young adults of East and South East Asia. K-Pop was recognised by Time magazine as "South Korea's Greatest Export''.
K-Pop Party 2016 is on 5 & 6 February 2016. Doors open at 6pm, with JJCC performing live on stage from 7pm and Boyfriend from 8pm.
VIP Gold Standing ticket-holders will receive an exclusive High Touch with both bands following the concert at 9pm.
