After the success of Vivid Sydney, the May/June arts and culture festival which had a truly impressive program and included the likes of The Cure staging perhaps one of their greatest concerts ever, comes the great news that Montreal's Just for Laughs festival will also be held in Sydney, Australia for the next three years.

This forthcoming major four day event will be held at the Sydney Opera House from September 1 to 4, 2011. Just a handful of the impressive headline performers have been announced so far, including the legendary seventy-one year old English actor, comedian, writer and self proclaimed 'tall person' John Cleese, who is performing in Australia for the first time, renowned Irish stand-up comedian, writer and actor Dylan Moran returns to Australia as part of the line-up also, as well as the acclaimed Margaret Cho, an American comedienne actress and author and award winning Louis CK, an American stand-up comedian, writer, actor, producer and director.
More performers are expected to be announced in the coming months, but for now, the likes of John Cleese, who will hosting The International Comedy Gala on Saturday 3rd of September and Dylan Moran, who will be performing his latest stand-up show Yeah, Yeah on Thursday 1st September, are certain to bring in the crowds. Tickets for Just For Laughs - Sydney 2011, go on sale on Friday June 24th, 2011, however if you sign up here, you can purchase tickets to the various events before they go on sale to the general public.
It is worth noting Dylan Moran will be touring Australia in July/August (see here for dates and venues), as will Margaret Cho, who will be touring her latest stand up show Cho Dependent in selected Australian cities in September (see here for dates and venues) and Louis CK will be performing one Melbourne show in addition to the Just For Laughs performance.
Looks like fun. I love the Opera House. I worked there for a week, which is a story all its own. Love a good laugh.

It would be amazing to see John Cleese do what he does best in Australia. Unfortunately, I saw this review today which means I have missed it. I am sure it would have been quite the experience especially at such a large venue. Great review.
