If classic cars and motorbikes are your passion, then you have no doubt heard of the Just Cars Geelong Revival . Formerly known as the Geelong Speed Trials, this has been a popular event on the Geelong motor vehicle calendar for almost 50 years, drawing thousands of spectators eager to see a range of vintage cars in action.

Ritchie Boulevard on the Geelong waterfront - the 'home' of Geelong Revival - never sees as much action during the year as it does when hundreds of vintage cars line up (although not all at once), ready to race one another in the classic sprints. As is the tradition, the pathways that line the hills overlooking the boulevard provide perfect vantage points for spectators as they watch one classic car go up against another during the sprint races.

While you could also once sit on the grassy hills to watch the event, this task has now been made more difficult since the Geelong council planted a variety of native plants on the hillside. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of good spots available to watch the races from, and it's well-worth settling down in any spot you can find to bear witness to the revving of the machines as they zoom down the street.

For those more interested in seeing vintage cars in their stationary form, there will be up to 500 classic vehicles on display, and you are more than welcome to have a look inside them and discuss the intricacies of them with their owners (if they're nearby). The Shannons Insurance Classic Motorshow will be held over both days, and prizes will be awarded for the best cars and motorcycles in 38 classes.

There will also be a vintage-themed Fashions On The Field event for the ladies - dress up in your finest frocks from the 1930's, all the way through to the 1970's, and see who takes the ultimate fashionista title. For the children, there will be a dedicated Kids' Zone, where they will be able to participate in many activities that are sure to keep them amused. Musical entertainment will be provided during the day by several musicians from the Bellarine's famous Blues Train , and there will be a range of market stalls (including food and wine) available for those interested in something a little less motor-orientated.

All of the above activities are absolutely free. However, if you're a real motoring enthusiast and would love the chance to mingle with racing personalities and sportspeople (including legendary Formula One World Champion Alan Jones) then you should definitely purchase a ticket for the Gala Dinner, which will be held at The Pier on Saturday night. Tickets start from $79 each and are available from the Geelong Revival website . It is also possible to purchase Pit Passes (where you get full access to the pit, and the opportunity to see all the racing vehicles as they prepare for the sprints), and VIP Passes, which give you access to almost everything.

The Just Cars Geelong Revival is an amazing opportunity to view classic cars in action, and is one event that motoring enthusiasts will not want to miss.
