Beaumaris is a beautiful part of Melbourne with its Marine Sanctuary which attracts a multitude of birds and sea life. It is only 20 kilometres from Melbourne CBD but feels like you are on holidays, even if just for the day. The Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary is one of the best places in Melbourne to introduce kids to marine and rockpool life.
So why not come out for the day and let your children (6-12) experience this area for a treasure hunt with a Park Ranger? They can discover the magic of rockpools as well as all the colours and patterns of rocks, cliffs, vegetation, and birdlife. Pelicans, black swans, and cormorants are all a common sight here and you may even see some fossil sites.
You can make a day of it with swimming and a picnic or a lunch stop at the Ricketts Point Cafe.
