June long weekend events, Straddie Hotel, Stradbroke Island festival, Queens birthday what's on

Looking for something unusual and fun this Sunday, perhaps a Sunday session with a difference?

This Sunday 8 June the Staddie Hotel is holding its Inaugural JUNEtunes Music Festival.

The highlight of the Festival will undoubtedly be GANGgajang, always a crowd favourite. Along with GANGgajang, patrons will love listening to Asa Broomhall, a frequent face on the local music scene who always puts on a great performance.

General admission tickets are $30 available through Oztix. $25 locals tickets with postcode 4183 ID and $60 Festival Club VIP tickets are only available from the Straddie Hotel.

With a public holiday Monday, and a setting on Stradbroke Island overlooking the ocean, the JUNEtunes music festival will hopefully be a regular on the Brisbane festival list.

Sundays are made for relaxing. Enjoying a cold beverage while gazing over the Pacific Ocean and listening to GANGgajang sing Sounds Of Then (This Is Australia) - well, does it get better than that? To ensure you don't miss any of the fun, be there at midday to hear Clara Durbidge, John Malcom, Erle Louk and local musician Adam James. The festivities kick on throughout the afternoon and into the evening with Rawrvanity, Kingston Stompers, Pippi Lips, Asa Broomhall and GANGgajang wrapping up the night.

Tickets are strictly limited so don't miss out! See the Facebook page or the website for further information.

HOW TO GET THERE (as listed on the Stradbroke Hotel website)

The hotel is providing a courtesy bus service for the Point Lookout area from 4pm til close. There will also be a pick up at Amity Point at 5pm in front of the Straddie Camping Grounds to the Hotel then returning to Amity Point departing 11:30pm. Dunwich day time buses will run as usual with a bus scheduled to drop off patrons departing the Straddie Hotel at 11:30pm. Please make sure to prebook (call 3409 8188 press 1) or book on the day at the door, as seating is limited to 50 people for each bus.

Stradbroke Ferries are major sponsors of the JUNEtunes Festival and provide a discounted rate to festival patrons, call 07 3488 5300. Stradbroke Ferries Vehicle Ferry and Passenger ferry timetables are available here. Guests can also walk on the barge for $10 return (note buses don't meet the vehicle ferries).

Passenger ferries depart from Cleveland and arrive at Dunwich. Tickets are $20 return and don't require pre-booking. Connecting buses travel from Dunwich to Point Lookout where the festival will be held – $10 return.

Due to Liquor Licensing laws in regard to festivals this event will be glass free – the bars will be serving mid strength beer & spirits. The Bistro (Festival Club) will be serving wine. Photo ID is required.
