Stumbled across this sweet little gem on my Sunday morning stroll. Tucked beside the entry to Eagle Junction train station, the charming picket fence and Merlo coffee umbrellas of make it eye catching.
A few cushions on milk crates on the pathway and artificial grass lead you into the small fresh cafe. When you step 'inside' under the tin roof, you'll be surrounded with a mixed bag of cushions, high and low tables and chairs, delicate jars, flowers and a myriad of other decorative pieces.
The morning clientele on this particular Sunday was leisurely and relaxed – a lot of take away requests from locals (with a crisp morning paper just purchased from the nearby newsagency) tucked under their arm. I spy a lot of regulars on their morning pilgrimage, with friendly banter and chit chat between the lovely barista and the customers (often knowing them by name).
I'm going to say it, this is the best Merlo coffee I've tasted – a perfect temperature (I like mine hot) and, a simple way to my heart, the added addition of a freckle (of the chocolate variety - why not I say? I don't think 7.30am is too early for chocolate). I would happily have this as part of my weekend ritual, coffee and the paper, listening to some cool tunes gently paying from the stereo and watching the world go by.
I would strongly encourage you to pop into , whether it be before your morning commute or on those leisurely morning strolls. They are open daily and offer a simple yet appetising menu. For those early birds, they trade from 6am – 12pm Monday through Saturday and, for those who like more of a sleep in, from 7am – 1pm on Sundays.
