Sydneysiders celebrate new free adventure playground
Jubilee Park: Giant slide
Construction of a new playground in Jubilee Park, Mortdale was completed in January 2018 and it is now open.
The first thing which visitors will notice is a huge enclosed slide, certain to delight thrillseekers. It is accessed by a ladder and tall climbing nets. There is also a big flying fox and circular netted swings, all set in a landscaped natural environment.
As you enter the park, little ones will be delighted by the wombat crossing and giant lizard statue, with logs to clamber on and rocks to explore.
The giant net and slide are not covered. While there are shadecloths over the toddler slides, the area can still be sunny, as we discovered when we visited on a 35-degree day. The majority of the park is not shaded.
Toilets (open from sunrise to sunset)
Adults haven't been forgotten - there are adult exercise stations at the rear of the park near the basketball courts. There are 2 pull up bars of varying heights.
Verdict: Jubilee Park is great for older kids, who will have a grand time on the slide, climbing nets and flying fox. Younger kids have smaller slides and circular hammock-type swings.
