The Choir of Hard Knocks are now in their twelfth year of an amazing journey and many of the original members are still with the choir. So too, is the dedicated founding Artistic Director, Dr. Jonathon Welch AM, who through his guidance and the regular contact with the choir has given members an opportunity to find a purpose in life as well as creating an interest in their lives to go back into the workforce or take on study. Music and the joy of connecting in song is a wonderful healing remedy for social isolation and homelessness.

The choir was introduced to the public in 2006 on the ABC TV Series " Choir of Hard Knocks ". Since then they have performed extensively throughout Melbourne and Sydney and are also the only artists in Australian music history to have been awarded an ARIA, Platinum and Gold Records, a Logie and a Helpmann Award.



On Saturday 1st December 2018 from 3.00pm at the Deakin Edge Theatre at Federation Square in Melbourne, there will be a spectacular Christmas fundraising concert in their support which will be directed by Dr Jonathon Welch AM. The cast will include Dr Jonathon Welch AM, Choir of Hard Knocks and Liane Keegan and will also feature Footscray-Yarraville City Band conducted by Phillipa Edwards, XL Arts, THECHOIR, Adam Przewlocki, Latrobe Valley Community Choir, Voices of Casey, Choir of Opportunity, All Together Choir, Voices of the Alfred and Western Health Singers.

Cost of the event is $35.00 for Adults, $25 Concession, $16 for Children Under 16 years and a Family of 2 adults and 2 children will cost $99.00.
