Josh Staley & Lawson Reeves
Illusionists Lawson Reeves and Josh Staley are '2 Guys, 1 Magic Show, No Idea' which featured at The Butterfly Club during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. See more
here.
This quirky little show is part comedy, part magic featuring lots of card tricks, duct tape, cash, literature and lots of possibilities. Although it may appear a simple show, the work is in the structure and timing of the illusionary tricks and audience participation.
There are major leaps of faith where an audience member hands over their mobile phone to Reeves and Staley in the hope it will be returned at the end of the show. Amidst smashing envelopes full of mobile phones and sticking playing cards in the mouths of audience members, these guys take some big performance risks and they pay off!
Of course, there is also the classic exchange of cash which mysteriously turns up inside a lemon. There are paper balls and aeroplanes, many tools of distraction and a myriad of magic boxes and who knows what could turn up in them.
'2 Guys 1 Magic Show No Idea' is not kid's show, but it could be toned down for kids. The adults in the audience had a whale of a time, and are now reading 'Stalker' and 'Fifty Shades of Grey' in a brand new way.
