Josh Pyke - Only Sparrows Tour

Josh Pyke has been doing the music thing for some time. At the age of 12, he was in his first band, and by 14 he was song writing. So it's pretty clear that music is in his blood.

In 2005, Josh was signed to Australian indie label 'Ivy League Records', and released his first mini album, Feeding the Wolves. During the time of the albums release, he toured with frontman from Jebediah , Bob Evans, and in 2006, the album was nominated for 'Best Pop Release' at the Aria Awards.

After the single "Middle of the Hill" was voted as number 19 in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2005, it was obvious Josh Pyke had made his way musically in to the minds of many including myself with this one.

By 2007, Josh had released his debut album 'Memories and Dust', which debuted at number 4 on the Australia ARIA Album Chart. He also picked up an ARIA for 'Best Adult Contemporary Album' that year.

Josh's second studio album 'Chimney's Afire' was released in 2008, with two songs from the album featuring in that years' Triple J Hottest 100. Those songs being "Make You Happy" at number 29, and "Lighthouse Song" at number 27.

More recently, Josh Pyke has toured around Oz in the group Basement Birds with Bob Evans, Kav Temperley of Eskimo Joe and Steve Parkin. You may have been lucky enough to catch them in one of their 2010/11 tours, because apparently they won't be doing so again. So they say.

However, that's just made room for Josh to write and release his current album "Only Sparrows", which he will be taking around the country this September / October.

Due to be released on August 19, his third studio album has already had some anticipation after hearing his first track off the new record 'No-one Wants A Lover'.

Such a talented musician. I am kind of sad I missed out on this because it would have been truly amazing to see such an artist. Great review though, thank you.

He is isn't he Alex. Lucky for us, he tours the country a little bit, so I'm sure it will be no time at all before we catch him here again. Bek.
