If a huge wall of wooden baskets filled with freshly baked bread and an extravagant array of goodies including cakes, pastries, biscuits, and doughnuts tickles your fancy, then Joseph Henri's Bakery and Coffee house, is the place to visit. Tucked away in a little row of shops in Terrey Hills, this bakery is a delightful haven of baked sweets and savouries.
They have a wide selection of freshly baked bread that the owner gets up earlier than the crack of dawn to create. Plenty of regular and specialty loaves and rolls to choose from, including Vienna loaf, Cob, High top and my personal favourite of theirs, the Sourdough. Now choosing which sort of bread to rip into and scoff down for lunch is tricky, but an even mightier challenge is walking past the large display fridge filled with umpteen cakes and pastries.
There is an abundance of luscious items to looks at; Neenish tarts, Palmiers, cherry pies, fudge slice, lemon tarts, vanilla slice, cream buns, and one of my personal favourites from here, the lamington.
If you're not into the sweet side of food life, they also have pies, sausage rolls and other savoury pastry snacks to choose from. Whatever you choose, you can be sure one of their comforting cups of delicious coffee will go very nicely indeed.
One of the other very appealing attributes of this bakery is how close it is to some lovely spots to go and consume your purchases. The beaches are a short drive away and bushland is all around.
So take a little drive up the coast and be sure to pop in to stock up on some tasty tummy fillers.
