This year's Joondalup Festival program commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the Moon on July 20, 1969 as part of NASA's Apollo 11 lunar mission.
Five decades of human activity in space has sparked new scientific and technological benefits which improve our quality of life on Earth and lead to a better understanding of our universe and the solar system.
Curiosity and exploration are vital to the human spirit, this year's Joondalup Festival program is sure to inspire all ages! There are so many amazing things to discover in three dedicated spaces!
The main stage line-up includes bands, choirs, international street performers and dance spectaculars! There is also a standalone circus rig with incredible acrobatics, two giant sculptures, and even some roaming performers to follow to your next adventure.
A place just for the little ones with exciting mini shows, perfect for the shortest of attention spans.
Enjoy a diverse range of shows for all ages, including comedy, magic, a gameshow with a difference, a singalong and dance party, a contortionist… and even the world's most dangerous hula hoop trick.
The Twilight Lantern Parade is another unmissable event. It is one of the biggest community arts events in the northern corridor and last year's event featured the participation of over 1,500 people. Held on Saturday 6 April, 6.15pm, this participative community arts project will showcase the talent, energy and creativity of the local community.
This year's theme is 'A Space Dream!'
Adding to the vibrant community atmosphere are international street performers and circus stars, engaging talks, stargazing nights, oversized and immersive art installations, Perth's best food trucks, a licensed area and community projects, including the Community Choral Project.
