embracing gourmet food
jones the grocer embraces gourmet food and presents a range of products ranging from tea leaves, chocolates to handmade sauces. Originally located in Woollahra, jones the grocer has now moved it's flagship store to Sydney Westfield on level 5. Here you'll find the cafe, patisserie and bakery, deli and specialty grocery section.

The cafe serves breakfast from 8am, as well as lunch and dinner options available from noon till late. Head there for brunch one day and checked out the coffee and food. In addition to the standard breakfast fare including eggs royale and omelette, there were a few interesting things on the menu including the chorizo burger, as well as the breakfast risotto with smoked ham and a poached egg.

Chorizo burger

The chorizo burger had a crispy bun with lightly fried chorizo sausage. It also comes with a hash brown on the side.

I like runny poached eggs with soft rice, so was a bit disappointed with the texture of the breakfast risotto, but props to the chef for the cool idea.

The coffee was smooth and not too sweet. A great way to start the day!

jones also runs master classes on the weekends, including how to make afternoon tea (includes tasting). There are also kid friendly classes including ones on pizza, cupcakes and sushi. Check out the 2014 schedule here.

Check it out the next time you're at Sydney Westfield.

Wouldn't bother going to this outlet. Never forgotten the time in Wollahra when a deli hand chose to serve a man, who I believed had pushed in front of me in the queue, first. Fine.....I expressed a subtle displeasure then waited for my lunch. And waited. My friend finished her meal. I went to complain and WOW was pleasantly offered a refund. NICE.
