Factory 9 is a quirky space, with an ever-expanding repertoire of tempting goods produced by local artists, artisans and makers. To name just a few, there's De Groote Coffee Co, serving excellent coffee made from beans roasted on-site, a pop-up bar called Sparkke and The Joinery Cellar Door.



The Joinery is a relaxed, family-friendly space, hosted by winemakers Charlotte Dalton and Ben Cooke. There are comfy chairs and board games to play but don't be fooled by the casual ambience, this is a working winery and there's a lot going on behind the scenes. Charlotte's wine is labelled in her own name and Ben has collaborated with his brothers to produce, logically, Cooke Brothers Wines. There are a few varieties each of red and white wine as well as a rosé. A wine flight is a good idea if you'd like to try different wines.



I tried a glass of the Mr Lincoln Rosé on my recent visit. I'm a huge fan of french-style, pale, dry rosés and Mr Lincoln presented in a deeper colour than these. Surprisingly, it wasn't sweet as expected and far more delicate than anticipated. I made a good choice.



My second choice was Grace Chardonnay, not too woody for my taste but ripe and flavoursome.



There are tables outside and inside and a selection of toasties and small bites to accompany the wine. Craft beer, gin and soft drinks are also available.



If your appetite requires something more substantial than shared snacks, Harborganics makes pizzas to die for and the Pearla Tuck Shop is a pop up bagelry. Both are just a few steps from The Joinery.



Lauren Weir's art studio is just next door and her whimsical paintings are a delight to look at before or after enjoying a glass or two of delicious wine.
