The John Pirie Motor Inn is a welcoming place situated on Warnertown Road, Port Pirie. (Warnertown Road runs parallel to the main road into Port Pirie, separated only by a traffic island.) It is within walking distance of Solomontown Beach, John Pirie Bridge and several bakeries and fast food shops. If you were fit, you could walk to the banks, post office and main shops from here too, as Port Pirie is a compact city. However, there is usually no need to walk everywhere, unless your car breaks down as ours did last weekend!
The rooms range from comfortable to luxurious. The best rooms have an in-room spa, spacious bedroom with giant-size bed, sofa, small dining table, vanity, television and tea coffee area. Extra rugs and an ironing board may be found in the wardrobe. Prices start at $149 to $199 per night for a double room, but you can watch booking sites for a special.
The on-site restaurant at first sounds expensive. However, when we walked across from the rooms we found it was "Schnitzel night". The schnitzels were fresh beef crumbed to perfection. My friend enjoyed his schnitzel immensely. I ordered an entrée as main. Not only was this very tasty, I was impressed because some restaurants won't allow customers this option.
