is located on the River Terrace, Kangaroo Point, with enviable views of the Brisbane River and Brisbane skyline. Joey's is a relatively new restaurant atop Kangaroo Point Cliff. Joey's is a great destination to relax and taste some great Italian food and coffee, whether it's a morning cappuccino, brunch with friends, dinner with the family or a romantic date.



When you arrive at Joey's Restaurant, you wait at the reception to be seated, unless you want to order takeaway. All the tables are on the ample deck overlooking the Brisbane River and the city.





The tables are undercover to enjoy the coolness of the shade on summer days. When it is cold, there are heaters on the deck. The place has a relaxed atmosphere and people can talk freely, without competing with loud music.







Menu

Joey's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Breakfast is reasonably priced with Cherry and Walnut Toast $10; Seasonal fruit with honey is $4; Classic eggs with two free-range soft boiled eggs served on toasted sourdough and bacon crumbs; Buttermilk pancakes with whipped ricotta, honeycomb and maple syrup for $19.



Joey's serves hot drinks including espresso, cappuccino, latte and a selection of teas and juices.



Antipasti include Wood Fired Pizza Bread for $16. Mains encompass Prawn Linguine $29; Chicken Schnitzel $18; Beef Rib Fillet $35 and market fish. Mains can be accompanied by salad, fries and green beans.



Pizza includes Mortadella and Burrata for $26; Margherita for $19.50; and Ham and Green Olives for $22.



The beverage list has cocktails for your sundown, such as white wine, rose and red wines, including Italian varieties like Cantine di Marzo, from Campania, Italy.





Joey's cater for vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options for your dietary requirements.







My own experience

Travelling on Main Street, I have passed a few times and one spring morning, I decided to stop for a coffee. I parked the car along the road, just in front of and near the stainless steel sculpture named Venus Rising.

Joey's remind me of those coffee shops and restaurants in the main square of the towns in Italy. Joey's presents itself in pastel colours, with big light blue umbrellas, with waiters welcoming the customers and busing themselves around the tables. The barista is busy making coffee non-stop and here and there to take orders too.

Certainly, Joey's has incomparable views of the city skyline and Brisbane City Botanic Gardens.

After ordering my coffee, I sat on a bench under the light blue umbrellas, which almost match the blue of the Queensland sky.
It is the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee whilst enjoying the views over the city.

When I finished my coffee, I took a stroll in the square and the little park adjacent to the square.

The sculpture Venus Raising has been designed by the artist Wolfgang Buttress and placed in its location in 2012. Venus Rising took inspiration from the Fibonacci Spiral, as well as the intersecting spines of a Nautilus Shell. The structure stands 23 metres high overlooking the Brisbane River.







is family and kid-friendly; you can take your dog too. Joey's has event packages, for example, a cocktail, standing soiree style, designed to be shared and relished with friends at $65 per person. Carparking is available along the road. Remember to take a ticket from the meter machine.
