Established in 1980, Joe's Pizza Bar along Henley Beach Road offers a wide variety of pizzas and pasta dishes, along with a few other dishes such as burgers, AB and fish and chips. During our visit, we enjoyed a Groupon deal for four that gave each diner his choice of a non-seafood pasta or 12-inch pizza dish, and a plate of Chicken Wings for the table.

One of the new additions to their menu, Yiros Pizza can be made with either chicken or lamb. We were able to order a half-and-half pizza featuring both meats. The garlic sauce brought out the flavour of the meats and a scattering of rocket leaves gave the pizza a fresh appearance.

Great for those that want a bit of everything, the salami, bacon and ham in The Lot Pizza gave this pizza a bit of a smoky taste, which was balanced out by the sweet chunks of pineapple. A salty element was provided by the anchovies and olives, and the prawns added texture to the pizza.

When ordering their pasta dishes, you can choose from spaghetti, fettuccini or penne pasta. Ravioli or tortellini is also available for a bit of an extra cost. The chunks of chicken in the Pollo Pasta were of a generous size and cooked just right and the mushrooms provided a bit of an earthy flavour. The cream sauce did not taste too creamy and was not too thick.

While the name 'Heat is On' may suggest it is quite spicy, the degree of spiciness of this pasta dish is actually quite mild. The slices of salami were of a good size but we thought there could have been a bit more pasta for a more balanced dish. The addition of capsicum provided an extra element of texture to the dish.

Available as a serving of 10 or 12, their Chicken Wings were cooked to perfection and there was enough of our choice of BBQ sauce to give them a delectable smoky taste. For those that want something a bit different, the wings can be ordered with tandoori or spicy sauce instead.

The place primarily caters for their dishes to be ordered for takeaway but there were a few tables available if you decide to eat there. A decent amount of off-street parking is available at the back of the restaurant.
