You think The Voice is the only way to see new talent? Think again! Melbourne singer songwriter, Joe Oppenheimer has just recently finished his coast tour starting from Melbourne to Sydney and finishing his tour at the Body Art Carnivale at Eumundi in Queensland.
Joe said music had been his biggest passion growing up and describes it as 'one of those things that kind of happened'.
"I had support all through Year 12 and I just progressed from there," Joe said.
He said much of his music is inspired by other successful musicians.
"My music's inspired by Neil Young as I grew up listening to him," Joe said.
"I experimented with my music too, started going electronic, playing at music festivals - it used to be just me and my guitar!
"I call my music 'loop folk' because it gets you dancing but with acoustic guitars."
Joe said he also plays classic covers and wants to follow the folk traditions.
"I'm generally a folk artist but I want it to be a bit electronic too," he said.
"My new song has a trumpet and guitar solo!
"I'm just really happy to be working and experimenting with folk and electronic."
He said his songs are very raw sounding and wants to be able to 'do it all'.
"In the end I want to be able to do it all," Joe said.
"I want to be able to play all the new release music.
"I want to help them (his fans) imagine, dance... And I want to be able to play at music festivals.
"Right now I'm looking at where my music is headed before I go on another tour."
If you didn't catch Joe at the Body Art Carnivale earlier this year, check him and music out on his
