I enjoy writing about music and cultural events in our city, reviews are my specialty
Last Saturday I had the pleasure and honour of seeing the performance and graduation of some very talented young people.
Their performances were beautiful, cute and entertaining. These students have obviously worked very hard at their skill and it was clear they thoroughly enjoy performing and enchanting the audience with their lovely music.
Such talent, composure and love for their music and at such young ages.
All were dressed to the nine and very humble with their curtsy's and bows at the end of each performance.
Their teachers and assistants are very good at what they do in bringing out the best in these naturally talented students. There was also a great sense of family and friendship and support amongst peers and teachers alike.
Joseph Lee Umalis performance of If I were a rich man was spot on, entertaining, engaging and he has a beautiful voice which made for a memorable performance. Such control and stamina (for those who are not familiar it is quite a long piece).
Another stand out was Ethan Richter playing Fur Elise, one of my favourite pieces, performed with confidence and perfection from such a young man.
The drum solos would be the envy of some of our greatest drummers over time. There children obviously have a great love of drumming which is emphasised by the facial expressions often seen on avid drummers.
The final performance of Let It Go by Kate Nelson, Janelle Yong, Olivia Yong, Chloe Ang and Praise Ang was made even more beautiful by the violinists and in my opinion is not one of the easiest to perfect, but they did.
All performers were outstanding and very brave. The pride of parents and students alike was clear. I was very moved and thoroughly enjoyed watching our talented up and coming musicians. They will surely go far.
