Great family park in Eastwood
The list of requirements for a great family park is pretty simple: a great playground, all the necessary facilities on site and plenty of open space. Picturesque Jim Walsh Park in Eastwood has all of this, plus a few other nice features that turn it into a lovely spot for a family day out.

Located on Graham Avenue in Eastwood, Jim Walsh Park covers quite a decent amount of space. Tall trees are dotted throughout the park and provide plenty of shade, while there's heaps of open, grassy areas to explore.

A small creek trickles through the centre of the park, though the water looked a pretty uninviting shade of brown the last time I visited

All that grass seems to be crying out for a picnic blanket or two, and you can spread out for a relaxing lunch in either the sun or the shade depending on the time of year. Sheltered picnic tables are also on offer, along with four barbecues if you feel like cooking up a tasty lunch.

Next on the list of the park's features is a kids' playground. Featuring a spinning net, miniature climbing wall, basket swing, slide and combination equipment, it's got plenty of tools to tire out even the most energetic of kids.

There's also a walking track that winds its way around the park, which is popular with joggers or simply just anyone out for a stroll. It also doubles as a great bike track for kids to race around.

A number of park benches also dot the park and provide a peaceful spot to just sit down and take everything in. Water bubblers are another nice touch, while toilets are also available.
