The sensational Jesus Christ Superstar stage show is coming to Perth. This fantastic musical will be in Perth for three days only, running from Friday 31st May until Sunday 2nd June, 2013, at the Arena in Perth. Australia is the first leg of an international tour of this brand new production, and Perth fans will get to see if first.
Jesus Christ Superstar stars Perth's very own Tim Minchin as Judas Iscariot, new-comer Ben Forster as Jesus, former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm as Mary Magdalene, Noiseworks lead singer Jon Stevens as Pontius Pilate and Deal or No Deals Andrew O'Keefe as King Herod.
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar first came to major theatres in 1971. Since then it has been performed around the world, in over 42 countries and grossed over £120 million. This new production has been re-conceived for the 21st century and will entertain people who have previously seen the show and a whole new generation of fans.
This popular rock opera tells the story of the last seven days of Jesus's life. It starts with the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ends with the crucifixion. The plot focuses on Judas as a the tragic figure who is dissatisfied, and highlights the personal and political struggles between Jesus and Judas Iscariot.
Jesus Christ Superstar includes many popular musical numbers such as 'I Don't Know How To Love Him' , 'Everything's Alright', 'Superstar' and 'Damned for All Time.
