Jersey Jack Gelato originated in Malaysia before it was brought to Australia. The ice-cream chain has a flagship store in Como, Western Australia, and in September 2017, they opened a second storefront in Westfield Whitford City in Hillarys. The new store is located in Westfield Whitford City's brand new $80 million dollar food and entertainment hub.
The first thing that attracted my attention to Jersey Jack at Westfield Whitford City was their doughnut cones. I'd never seen anything like them before. I was immediately intrigued. I knew we had to try them.
I was really impressed with the variety of the gelato flavours at Jersey Jack. You had your usual ones like chocolate and vanilla but there were also delicious options like Pandan Coconut and Milk Honey and Cornflake. The average cost of menu items at Jersey Jack ranges from $5 to $20.
When we visited, I got two scoops of ice cream in a cup and my husband got the doughnut cone with a single scoop of ice cream. I liked how they put a chocolate square with the Jersey Jack name written on it on the top of my dessert. It was a nice touch that made it look just a little bit fancy.
The doughnut cone tasted fresh and was a unique eating experience. You could really taste the cinnamon and the sugar. It provided an interesting contrast to the ice cream. It was like eating a doughnut topped with ice cream but it lacked the enjoyable crunch of a waffle ice cream cone. It is definitely worth a try, just for the experience.
