Jeromaia Detto unlocks a world of pure silliness in Mush
Jeromaia Detto: MUSH - Fringe World
Critics have called Jeromaia Detto one of the best-emerging comedians

Jeromaia Detto: MUSH is a sketch comedy show that is currently showing at Basement at Liberty Fringe at 81 Barrack Street, Perth, as part of Fringe World 2023 until Sunday, 19 February 2023. It is the latest solo performance from Jeromaia Detto, a Melbourne based award nominated comedian, who has been training and performing in improv theatre and as a clown for almost a decade. Detto has an extensive background in improv theatre and is a 2021 graduate of the French clown college Ecole Philippe Gaulier. He has been nominated for a number of awards and has taught workshops on improv, clown and theatre since 2017.

MUSH dives into the brain of Jeromaia Detto and the hilarious concepts and the cast of whimsical, absurd, and bizarre characters that live in his head. I had such a great time at this show. I wasn't sure what to expect or if this kind of comedy would really appeal to me. From the moment Detto stepped out onto the stage, it was clear to me that he had a lot of charisma and was very skilled at comedy, improv, and performing as a clown.

It was so much fun watching him interact with the audience. It was amazing how much of a spell he was able to cast over people. In one skit where he was pretending to be a composer, he mimed playing an invisible instrument and then flung it in the direction of an audience member who decided to play along and pretend to play as well. He soon had a bunch of people in the audience tooting, strumming, and humming along.

In another skit where he mimed driving a car, a woman at the back of the room decided to join in by making car engine noises, which had everyone in floods of hysterics. I was laughing so much for the entire show and squirming in my seat hoping that he wouldn't pick me to join him up on stage or ask me to do an impression. MUSH is pure silliness and had everyone in the room smiling from ear to ear. If you are looking for a different kind of comedy show, make sure you book tickets to MUSH, before its final show on Sunday, 19 February 2023.

I love the title. I think everyone needs a dose of pure silliness to keep the laughs coming.
