I found out that it was designed by a talented young baker named Jen, owner of business Jen's Bakes. Jen was kind enough to allow me to interview her.
How did you get into baking? I have always had a huge passion for food and cooking and wanted to be a chef at a very young age (but now wish to go into hotel and event management). I learnt a lot from my mum, who is a great cook, and I have always helped out in the kitchen. I find baking very enjoyable and a way to relax while making something that others can enjoy.
Tell us a bit about your business. I have a passion for baking cakes and I love to provide others with the perfect cake for their celebration. I offer affordable cakes with great flavours for anyone who wishes to order. I started my business early this year and it quickly took off and is continuing to grow. I like to work with my customers together to design a cake they are happy with, as well as providing options for them to choose.
What is your business ethos? When providing cakes to customers, I believe in giving them the best possible outcome I can. I always aim for quality and to please the customer. For each cake I make, I research the style and design I wish to achieve, as well as the flavour being the best it can be.
What types of things do you bake? I bake a variety of things including tarts, cupcakes and macarons, however, I specialise in celebration cakes. I try to make whatever a customer asks for within my ability. I mostly receive orders for cakes and cupcakes for events and parties, however, I have also catered for a book launch.

What is your favourite thing to bake? I love to bake many things so it is hard for me to pick a favourite, however, I have taken a great liking to decorate cakes. From a personal perspective, I thoroughly enjoy baking tarts. In the past month, I have done a lot of work on perfecting my macarons, and this would definitely be one of my favourite ways to decorate a cake.
You're only in year 11. How do you manage juggling a business with school commitments? It can be very difficult to manage the stress of school with all of my other commitments such as sport, my two jobs and running a business by myself. Along with finding time for my many hobbies, which cooking fits into. However, I find that running this business is a way to de-stress from my busy life and do the thing that I love most. My business is based on my passion and this keeps my motivation and drive to keep moving forward with my progress.
Where are you based? I am currently based in Athelstone, operating from my house. However, depending on the future of the business, I will consider moving to a more commercial outlet (once I finish school). I encourage my customers to come and pick up the cakes and products, however, I do offer delivery if needed within a nearby distance (and this will become more of an option when I get my full license).
How do prospective customers get in touch with you? Customers can get in touch with me through my social media accounts for' jensbakes' on Instagram and Facebook. I also have my phone number as an option for contact on the accounts as well as my business cards for those who don't have social media.
