Looking for unique artwork to decorate the walls of your home or office? Artwork created by your child? Jellybeanstreet has the answer.

It all begins with Jellybeanstreet art class

Jellybeanstreet is a new concept to arrive in Australia from the United States. It all begins with a kid's painting class, at one of the following Melbourne locations:

  • Greensborough
  • Docklands
  • Werribee

  • Classes are open to children of all ages, from babies to school age. Book in your session as far in advance as possible, and arrive dressed in your least favourite clothes (classes can get messy!). Your children be guided by your Jellybeanstreet host for the day, but you can lend a hand, too.

    Our Jellybeanstreet workshop experience

Our sons, 2 and 7 years, took part in the Greensborough class, operated by Karen Harris. There were 12 children of various ages, sat around a table, wearing provided art smocks.

Over the course of the hour, different coloured paints and painting tools arrived at the table to create 'art' with; the bottom of a plastic bottle, water balloons, springy egg cups and Duplo just to name a few. There is also an opportunity to finger paint and hand print. As each object arrived, so did a new piece of paper. At the end of the class, each child had a dozen or so pieces of painted paper ready to dry out on the floor.

The really little ones needed help from mum or dad, some kids got absolutely covered in paint, but most importantly, they all had a lot of fun.

What happens after the art workshop?

    1. Graphic designers create an abstract masterpiece with your child's paintings

This is the interesting part. After each Jellybeanstreet workshop, the host (in our case Karen Harris) takes a photograph of every piece of paper painted by the hands of your child/ren, and sends them off to the Jellybeanstreet graphic design team, to combine and create a masterpiece of your child's handiwork.

To have your child's artwork designed into an abstract masterpiece, you pay a small deposit, which is taken off of the cost of your final purchased artwork (if your order is over the value of $200, check here for pricing). You can put forward suggestions of the colours you would like to see in the final design, but otherwise, leave it to the experts.

    2. You decide on one of three designs

After around 2 weeks, you will be emailed with your own private link within Jellybeanstreet's website, where you will view three designs made up of your child's paintings. You will see each design in a mock-up of how it would look on the wall of a home.

If you are happy with one of the designs, go ahead and order online, otherwise, you can make suggestions to change the colour or style until you are happy.

    3. Your child's masterpiece is added to the online gallery.

Jellybeanstreet's online gallery is filled with abstract artwork using children's paintings just like yours. Your own child's masterpiece is added to the gallery, which can be viewed and purchased by anyone anywhere else in the world. This is a great opportunity to share your child's artwork with friend and relatives.

    4. Money is raised for a children's charity with re-sales of your child's artwork

When a friend, family member or art enthusiast buys one of your child's abstract pieces online, 60% of the sales is donated to a children's charity of your choice (there is a pull down list for you to choose from).

How our children's artwork turned out

Have a look at Jellybeanstreet's online gallery, and you will see each finished artwork is very different from the next. Eager to see what designs would be made from our sons paintings, we received three styles, each a combination of our two boys handiwork.

This is our final chosen masterpiece. Are we happy? Yes indeed.
