If you are a fan of the critically acclaimed television drama Dexter and the original crime novels, you cannot miss this just announced special event at The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI); Dark Tales, Serial Archetypes featuring American playwright and novelist Jeff Lindsay , who is best known for the Dexter Series; Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004), Dearly Devoted Dexter (2005), Dexter in the Dark (2007), Dexter by Design (2009) and Dexter is Delicious (2010). This event will occur on Friday, March 11 ยท 5:00pm - 8:00pm.

Lindsay will be in conversation with Dr. Sue Turnbull , who is well-known for her academic research of the Turnbull%22&hl=en&ei=p4tlTcCIFY6OvQO82byrBg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CDEQ6AEwAQ Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series, CSI: Crime Television Under the Microscope, London: I.B. Having studied under Turnbull, I am sure both Lindsey and Turnbull, will be entertaining and insightful speakers, particularly considering the topic of conversation is the morally ambiguous protagonist of Dexter Morgan ; a serial killer/vigilante.

This discussion will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and a book signing at the ACMI Store. If you have ever been to an ACMI event you will know you will have to purchase tickets fast! Priced at $20 - you can purchase your ticket now by calling (03) 8663 2583 or email [email protected]. For more details see here . Also book signings are popular events (just last week David Suzuki participated in a book signing), so you will need to be patient.

Also if you are interested in Dark Tales, Serial Archetypes , you may also be interested in ACMI's upcoming two-day symposium Fairy Tales Re-imagined . This is another great program of events exploring Charles Perrault fairytales and how these classic tales have been modernised and reworked for today's audiences - in literature, film and television.

It is also worth noting the Disney exhibition Dreams Come True: The Art of Disney's Classic Fairytales , at ACMI is closing on April 26 2011.
