The Daily Mirror (UK) call him "A national treasure" and to The Sun he's "The funniest stand-up in Britain" but Jeff Green has quite a bit of Australian flavour in his comedy recipe - including the ability to shine a spotlight on some home truths through being plain funny.



Joke telling at a thousand kilometres an hour, Jeff bounces back and forth across the (tiny Gold Digger Fringe World) stage seemingly bursting with enthusiasm. It's like the regular Fringe World session 60 minutes is a restriction to a comedian that's determined to have you holding your belly and rubbing your cheeks from cramp.


The kind of stories that lead you to consider building a waterproof room for your own.

Only British comedians seem to be able to get away with some jokes. Australian history, past sexual exploits, family and the sanctity of marriage, legalities of divorce, racism - they all get a look in.



Honestly is a speedway of Jeff's "messed up year" - 2008 - it's painfully funny.

The lady in front of me stands up at the end and exclaims: "Ohhhhhh, my cheeks hurt!" Fair enough - it's the first night of the Festival and her first time attending."You've got cheek cramp", I say, "They'll get stronger throughout the Festival."

Thanks, Jeff, for kicking off opening night of the Festival with such laughter.

Perfect for the not so easily offended, take your best spouse and witness this funny man try to fit a lifetime of self-deprecation into an hour - and bemoan that he still has "so many more jokes to tell you."
