Join the stars and raise awareness for Jeans For Genes Day
The iconic attraction Madame Tussauds in Darling Harbour, Sydney transformed some of our favourite Stars with a 'Denim Takeover' for the Jeans for Genes Day campaign this year. The spectacular showcase had some of our much-loved wax figures dressed in denim, in support for this campaign.
The impressive line-up of stars wearing denim gave their approval to be restyled for the weekend in support of Jeans for Genes Day (which has already raised more than $60 million in support of CMR). It includes Ricky Martin, Dannii Minogue, Ian Thorpe, Dame Edna Everage and Ian Smith- who are all aboard and these celebrities donning denim were part of a united stance against childhood disease as well as raising awareness and funds for Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI).
The "Jeantastic" weekend (4-6th August) helped to raise funds via the Jeans for Genes Day campaign, by Madame Tussauds donating $1 for every visitor. These funds will help discover treatments and cures as well as help finding ways to treat or prevent childhood cancer, epilepsy, birth defects and genetic diseases to create a brighter future for all children.
Sadly 1 in 20 children are born with a defect or genetic disease. On average, that is one in every classroom. Many major advances in children's health have resulted from medical research including the demise of previously fatal illness like polio, smallpox and diphtheria. Together, we can all unite to make a difference and give children all around the world the opportunity for a healthy start to life!
Madam Tussauds 'Denim Takeover' was an amazing and wonderful 'event' and it was both entertaining and enjoyable to see some of our favourite celebrities dressed in denim in support of such a spectacular cause/campaign!
