The J.B. Ware Reserve sits on Portrush Road, just at the point where the Adelaide Hills meet the city. It is a cosy park with a bright but compact playground, and a friendly atmosphere for the whole family. Bring the kids along, and enjoy a few hours playing at the reserve.

There is a large grassy space at the reserve. There are no trees in this space, which makes it perfect for a friendly game of soccer or footy. You'll also be able to enjoy kite flying, or you could have a throw of the frisbee. The kids will also be able to run around, and get rid of lots of excess energy. There is even a basketball hoop if you need somewhere to get in some practice.

Of course the kids will have the most fun exploring the playground. It looks a bit like a rag-tag cubby house, and kids will love the bright colours. There is a small climbing frame, as well as a slide. It is not only fun to play in, but it will also help encourage children to use their imagination as they play. The reserve and playground are well designed, and there are also fun animal motifs around the park that kids will love to find.

There aren't many undercover or shady places at the reserve, so this isn't the best place if you're uncertain about the weather, but when the sun is shining this is a great place for play. There is a picnic table and a barbecue at the reserve, but if you like you could also set up a picnic blanket on the grass. The area isn't big, so unless you bring a lot of extra chairs along, you wouldn't want to have a big gathering here.

It may be a small park, but the J.B. Ware Reserve is a lovely place to head with the family. The playground is great for both young and older children, and the whole area is well suited to play.

To find more parks and playgrounds in the area, head to the City of Burnside website.
