The world's most liveable city dishes up a generous serving of free music events in June. There are classics and live music performances at Light the Winter in Federation Square, lunchtime recitals in Docklands and winter concerts hosted by the City of Moonee Valley. For a large dose of music this month, there is none other than the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. It commences with an open-air concert at Federation Square. Started in 1998, it has grown into a world-class festival featuring international masters of jazz and top talents from Australia. The spirit of jazz permeates the clubs, art venues and concert halls in the city, heading west. Thanks to the City of Maribyrnong, Footscray has also become a destination for jazz during the Festival. Make your choice from 7 free performances at Jazz Out West.
