Come and see top jazz artists at Kings Park
You can sit on the grass, chill out and relax while you listen to the sounds of jazz on a summer day. Mellen Events are proud to present Jazz On A Summer's Day - a new jazz series starring the best of Australian and International jazz artists in the beautiful surroundings of Kings Park & Botanic Garden.

This inaugural Jazz On A Summer's Day Show features Australia's own trumpet maestro James Morrison on stage with Wendy Matthews.

As well as these two iconic artists, joining them for this spectacular afternoon of jazz in the park is Vince Jones, the UK's leading female saxophonist, YolanDa Brown and Perth's own sensational Libby Hammer.

At Kings Park, you can bring along a picnic and enjoy some of the finest Australian and International jazz artists currently touring, and where better could you see a concert than our delightful Kings Park!

This concert will be on regardless of any weather situations and umbrellas are not allowed at this venue, so if it looks like rain, bring your poncho or raincoat.

4.30 pm: Gates open
5.00 pm: Libby Hammer
6.00 pm: YolanDa Brown
7.15 pm: Vince Jones
8.45 pm: James Morrison with Wendy Matthews

All jazz followers will be familiar with James Morrison who is a virtuoso in the true sense of the word. Besides being a genius on the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays the trombone, euphonium, flugel horn, tuba, saxophones, double bass and piano.

He has performed all over the world for many years now, along with many of the legends of jazz. James Morrison's career thus far has been diverse and perhaps not typical of most jazz musicians.

Wendy is a true musician, with a great deal of talent and has recently had a hit with Billie Holiday tribute, Billie and Me, and is always very popular right across Australia.

With an extraordinary wanderlust and spirited, gypsy vibe to her life, Wendy seems to have done a lot including jingles, voiceovers, firsts, lasts and everything in between.

Wendy is nevertheless down to earth, real and says of herself "it's taken time to push through some personal barriers, I'm not a natural exhibitionist; I just love music and singing."
